Updated September 16, 2018 09:48:10 If you’re using a computer, you’ve probably been using it for at least a few years.
But if you’re in the middle of a new deployment of Windows 10, you might be thinking that it’s time to turn off the webcam, stop sending your text messages, and turn off Windows 10.
In a nutshell, you’ll need to manually disable your webcam if you haven’t already done so.
For most users, this will be the easiest part of the process.
To disable your computer, open Settings.
Click the System section, then the View tab, then toggle the “Automatically disable webcam” checkbox.
Once you’ve done that, turn it back on.
You can also turn it off with the Windows key, CMD, Alt+Enter, or by tapping the gear icon on your keyboard.
For more tips, read our guide on disabling your webcam.
When you’re done, your computer should look like this: You should see your webcam appear on your screen.
It’s time for Windows 10 to restart, so go ahead and do that now.
If you have an older version of Windows, you can’t do this.
It’ll just leave you with the default setup, which isn’t all that different from the default configuration of Windows 7.
If your computer isn’t in Windows 10 mode, you should see a prompt for restarting.
If not, you probably don’t have Windows 10 installed, but you can install it if you want.
On your computer go to Settings > Administrative Tools > Windows Settings > Control Panel > System and Security.
You should now see Windows 10 as your default operating system, and it’s ready to go.
If that’s the case, you’re ready to move onto the next step.
Resetting your webcam When you turn off and off your computer and reboot, Windows 10 should revert back to the default settings, with the webcam back in place.
It will also automatically restart your computer if you do this while in the same desktop.
If the webcam doesn’t appear, you need to reset your webcam by doing this in the Windows 10 Taskbar.
Go to the Taskbar > Settings > Privacy > Reset your webcam settings.
Here you’ll see a Reset button.
Click it to do so.
The webcam should go back to where it was when you last turned it on.
This will take a while.
It won’t restore your webcam’s settings, but it’ll let you reset it to a more recent configuration.
To revert back, tap the Reset button again, and wait a few minutes.
If it’s not working, you may need to restart your PC and try resetting it again.
If all else fails, you could try manually rebooting your PC to fix the issue.
It might work if you don’t see a log of the webcam being turned on or off, but if you can see the webcam not working on your computer’s log, it could be a problem with the way Windows works.
